Transferring Ownership of IP

On certain occasions owners of intellectual property may wish to sell it to others.  This may be because the business has changed direction and the intellectual property in question is no longer necessary for the business. Or it may be that a potential purchaser has made an offer than cannot be refused!

Pemberton Reid can prepare the documents that are necessary to transfer the ownership of the intellectual property and can advise on what warranties should and should not be given.

Pemberton Reid can also make investigations into and report on the ownership of the intellectual property. Advice can be given as to whether or not there are any restrictions on the intellectual property or any onerous agreements already in place which may affect the purchaser’s ability to deal with the intellectual property after the sale has been completed.
